An investigation is underway following an alleged incident involving a ferry and a leisure boat in Co Cork earlier today.
It�s understood a speed boat allegedly crashed into to the ferry that crosses between Passage West and Cobh Co Cork around 7.15 this morning.
Volunteers with Crosshaven Lifeboat were tasked and made their way to the scene after receiving a call to assist.
A spokesperson for the the RNLI said , on arrival they found a very badly damaged speed boat tied up at Monkstown Marina and received information the person who was in charge of the boat at the time of the alleged collision had been taken to hospital by a friend.
The speed boat was later towed to another location.
A spokesperson for the Ferry Company said he was aware of an incident but would not be commenting until the Marine Casualty Investigation Board concluded its investigation.
