Circus Extreme’s ROCK IT OUT World Tour Is Coming To Cork And This Could Be The Family Event Of The Year
Europe’s largest touring Big Top is coming to Curraheen with live rock music, motorbikes, fire, aerial acrobatics and some seriously jaw-dropping stunts. Clear the family calendar because something absolutely massive is rolling into Cork this August.

Circus Extreme is bringing its spectacular ROCK IT OUT World Tour to Curraheen Showgrounds from Friday, August 28th until Sunday, September 13th and Cork will be the first Irish stop on the tour.
And if your memories of the circus involve a few juggling balls and a clown with oversized shoes, prepare for something completely different.

ROCK IT OUT takes the traditional Big Top experience, turns the volume all the way up and adds live rock music, motorbikes, fire, water, incredible aerial performers and some genuinely nerve-racking stunts.
This is far from your average trip to the circus, it’s a spectacular night out with your buddies, a brilliant family adventure – an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Finding something that attracts everyone in the family can be tricky as we all know.
Something that has a seven-year-old staring open-mouthed mightn’t impress a teenager, while the adults are often left wondering when they can get a cup of coffee.
That’s where Circus Extreme has come up with a completely unique formula that will captivate all ages!
There are spectacular circus performances for younger audiences, enormous motorbike stunts and pyrotechnics for thrill-seeking teens, and the atmosphere of a live rock concert running throughout the production.

The result is a two-hour show with something for everyone, which is a rare find these days, and far more than a kids’ event where the adults are there to supervise.
And previous audiences seem to agree. The ROCK IT OUT production has already been touring around the world, where rave reviewers have praised its combination of traditional circus skills and a much more contemporary rock-show atmosphere.
There are certain circus acts where you know perfectly well that the performers are professionals, but your stomach still drops watching them. Circus Extreme has quite a few of those.
The legendary Globe of Death sees motorcyclists race at speed inside a giant steel sphere, while the Double Wheel of Death sends performers high into the roof of the Big Top on two enormous rotating wheels.

Then there are the freestyle motocross riders. They’ll be launching their bikes through the air and performing backflips inside the Big Top, alongside high-speed Street Bike stunts that bring an entirely different kind of energy to the circus ring.
Expect plenty of hands covering eyes before not being able to start peeking through their fingers to see what happens next.
One of ROCK IT OUT’s most beautiful performances comes from aerial artist Laura Miller. Suspended above a specially designed water tank, Laura combines aerial hoop work with water and fire to create one of the production’s most visually spectacular moments.
She rises from the water into the air, sending water cascading through the lights as she performs overhead, before fire and special effects transform the entire scene.
It’s exactly the sort of spectacle that explains why modern circus has become as much about theatre, lighting and visual production as traditional acrobatics.

Audiences can also expect aerial trapeze, sword swallowing, acrobatics and the spectacular Double Ukrainian Swing, where performers are launched high into the air from enormous swings to perform flips and somersaults.
This might be the ingredient that really separates ROCK IT OUT from the circus you remember as a child. There is a full live rock band, singers and musicians performing throughout the show.
Rather than stopping the action for musical interludes, the band provides the heartbeat of the production, with live music accompanying the stunts and helping the entire two-hour performance flow more like a huge arena show.

Add dramatic lighting, smoke, fire, water, pyrotechnics and special effects and you’ll understand why Circus Extreme describes ROCK IT OUT as more than a circus.
It’s part circus, part stunt show and part rock concert.
The show takes place inside Circus Extreme’s enormous touring Big Top, with comfortable theatre-style seating and a climate-controlled interior, so whatever the weather you’ll be nice and cosy inside. For children, simply seeing the enormous tent at Curraheen is likely to be part of the excitement.
Curraheen Showgrounds, familiar as the home of the Cork Summer Show, will welcome the production from Friday, August 28th to Sunday, September 13th.
With tickets starting from €10, it’s an affordable opportunity to experience a genuinely large-scale international touring production, which is starting its Irish tour in Cork.
So whether you’ve got little ones fascinated by the circus, teenagers who think they’ve seen everything, grandparents who remember the excitement of the Big Top arriving in town, or adults who fancy watching people do things on motorbikes that no sensible person would ever attempt themselves, this one covers all the bases. Miss it at your peril!
