Cork families are invited to come together later this month as local gym Obodo celebrates 14 years in business with a special free community event suitable for all the family.
Lucy Kenefick and her brother Chris Kenefick are celebrating 14 years since they founded Obodo gym on the South Douglas Road. Lucy followed her passion when she left the security of finance to start a revolution in fitness in Cork. Fourteen years later, they are choosing not simply to celebrate how far she has come, but to recognise the people and community who have helped make Obodo what it is today.

Everybody Move, taking place on August 29, will celebrate Obodo’s journey over the past 14 years, and most importantly, the community they have built along the way, with a free family friendly morning of fitness and fun.
More than just a gym, Obodo has built its reputation around inclusive fitness, with a focus on making exercise accessible to everyone. Its classes cater to a wide range of people, including serious athletes, new mums, older adults, people with intellectual disabilities and those who may feel underconfident when it comes to exercise.

The aim is to remove the barriers that can sometimes prevent people from getting active, while helping members build confidence, improve their physical fitness and feel comfortable in a welcoming environment.
To mark their 14th birthday, Obodo will host a morning of free taster sessions featuring the Bike, Row, Ski erg machines. There will also be an ice-cream van, protein drinks, Saor cocktails, and DJ Stevie G providing the soundtrack.

Classes will run from 8:30am-1pm, you can book in for free on the Obodo app. All fitness levels are welcome. These taster sessions are the perfect way to try something new.
Rather than charging for the classes, Obodo is asking attendees to donate the cost of a class to help fund its Revelate programme, which provides fitness opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

The event reflects the philosophy that has been at the heart of Obodo since day one: empowerment, inclusion and creating a safe space where everyone can explore fitness at their own pace.
After 14 years, Everybody Move is not simply a birthday celebration. It is a chance for Obodo to celebrate the people who have made the gym what it is, while helping to make fitness more accessible for even more people in the Cork community.
