Three brilliant Cork organisations are celebrating a major national honour after being named among the National Lottery Good Cause Legends 2026.
Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival, Sensational Kids and My Canine Companion were among just nine organisations selected nationwide — with each receiving a €15,000 award in recognition of the extraordinary difference they make to people and communities.
The awards are a fantastic boost for Cork and a wonderful recognition of the people behind these organisations who work tirelessly to make life better for others.
Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival has been named a Cultural & Heritage Legend, celebrating its outstanding work in preserving and promoting Irish culture, music, language and island heritage while bringing people together through one of Ireland’s most unique festivals.
Sensational Kids has been named a Community Legend for its hugely important work supporting children with additional needs and their families through vital therapeutic services and supports.
And My Canine Companion has been named a Sport & Wellness Legend for its life-changing work providing highly trained service dogs that help children and adults living with disabilities achieve greater independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Together, the three Cork organisations showcase the incredible work being done in communities across the county — from protecting our culture and heritage, to supporting families and changing lives through compassion, expertise and dedication.
The National Lottery launched Good Cause Legends earlier this year to shine a light on extraordinary organisations, projects and individuals who have used National Lottery Good Causes funding to create a lasting impact.
National Lottery CEO Cian Murphy said the three Cork organisations were “outstanding examples” of groups creating lasting impact in Cork and beyond.
Their success is not only a huge achievement for each organisation but also a wonderful boost for the communities, volunteers, staff, families and supporters who have helped them reach this point.
