Excitement is building as Cork counts down to this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade, with Irish Guide Dogs announced as the 2026 Grand Marshal.

The Cork-based charity has partnered more than 2,000 guide, assistance and community dogs with people across Ireland, helping those with visual impairments and families of children with autism live more independently.

The parade takes place at 1pm on March 17, travelling from South Mall through Grand Parade and Patrick Street to Merchants Quay. It will be the highlight of the Cork St Patrick’s Festival, a five-day celebration from March 13–17 featuring over 3,000 participants and embracing the theme “Marsh, Myth and Magic,” inspired by Cork’s origins and rich folklore.

Corks 96FM Radio personalities Izzy Showbizzy and Simon Murdoch will share MC duties at the the reviewing stand on South Mall.

Chatting to All About Cork the popular presenter said “It’s a huge thrill to be an MC at this years parade! The St Patrick’s celebrations are such a cultural moment, not just in Cork, or even Ireland, but around the world. I remember as a child being jealous of all the kids that got to be involved in the parade, so I’m delighted to finally get a chance to participate myself!”
