Slash Hook Attack

Gardai are investigating an incident where a number of men armed with weapons attacked a house in Cork last evening 10-7-25

The men armed with slash hooks and machetes damaged a number of cars near a house at Onslow Gardens off the Commons Road around 9.45pm .

A video on social media shows the men who were wearing balaclavas smashing windows during the attack

Investigating officers say “Damage was reported to a house and vehicle. No injuries were reported.”

Local TD Ken O’ Flynn said “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the scenes that unfolded last night in Onslow Gardens. What appears to be an escalation of a feud between two families has resulted in serious public disorder, destruction of property, and the terrorising of an otherwise peaceful neighbourhood.

Innocent residents—men, women, and children—were caught in the middle of this madness. Several families have had their vehicles vandalised, their safety compromised, and their sense of community shattered. This is not just unacceptable; it is appalling.

This kind of violence has no place on our streets. It is both deeply disappointing and profoundly disturbing to witness such lawlessness take root in Cork’s northside.” said the TD.

Investigations are ongoing.
