Pensioner Dies Following Collision

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Charleville Co, Cork yesterday afternoon Saturday.

The woman who was in her 70s was one of two people knocked down on the Main Street shortly after 2pm.

The woman was airlifted to CUH where she later died.

The second casualty a man in his 60s was also taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

It’s understood the man and woman had been selling tickets for a local charity when the collision happened.

The scene has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the local coroner has been notified. A post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Garda� are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also seeking mobile phone and dash-cam footage from anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Charleville, at the time of the collision.
