Horizons, in partnership with the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery at University College Cork (UCC), proudly honoured 16 students who completed the clinical component of the BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing.
This marks a significant milestone in their four-year academic and professional journey.
The BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing offers a dual qualification — a professional nursing registration in intellectual disability and a Bachelor of Science honours degree. As part of their training, students completed diverse clinical placements within Horizons’ services, including community and residential settings, schools, and specialist placements.
Horizons is committed to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism across Cork to live fulfilling lives of their own choosing. The organisation plays a key role in shaping the future of disability nursing by providing hands-on experience and mentorship to students.
This event celebrated not only the students’ clinical achievements but also their compassion, resilience, and personal growth. It was a particularly special occasion as the first in-person ceremony since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
