The excitement is reaching fever pitch as two talented Cork men get suited and booted for one of the biggest nights in Irish entertainment — the Irish Film and Television Awards!
This coming Friday night, Jamie Forde and Daniel Power will proudly take to the red carpet as nominees, representing Cork with style, talent, and huge ambition.
Daniel Power has earned a nomination for Best Lead Actor for his powerful performance in Christy, directed by fellow Cork native Brendan Canty.
The film, shot primarily in Knocknaheeney, tells the moving story of a vulnerable 17-year-old in Cork trying to navigate life after being forced out of foster care — and Daniel’s portrayal has clearly struck a chord.
Reacting to the incredible news, Daniel shared his joy:
“I’m so happy and so grateful to have been nominated alongside some of my peers — people I’ve looked up to my whole life and who have really inspired me.”
Also flying the Cork flag is Jamie Forde, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Robot. The talented wheelchair user, already tipped for big things in the industry, described the moment he received the news as surreal. He said it felt like he was dreaming when he got the call — and he simply can’t wait for the big night.
Adding to the excitement, both Jamie and Daniel paid tribute to Suits.ie Cork for ensuring they’ll be looking their very best for the glamorous occasion.
It’s a particularly proud moment for Cork talent all round, with Diarmuid Noyes and Emma Willis also shortlisted in supporting acting categories, while Brendan Canty receives a nomination for Best Director.
All eyes will be on Friday night — and Cork couldn’t be prouder!
