THE inquests in to the deaths of two men who died during an Ironman competition in Youghal, Co Cork in August of last year is due to open today.
Brendan Wall (45) originally from Co Meath and Ivan Chittenden (64) from Canada died on August 20th last year after both got into difficulty at separate times in the water during the challenge.
The hearing this morning will establish identification as well as the causes of death of both men. The inquest will then be adjourned until a later date pending the outcome of a detailed investigation by a number of agencies.
Plans to stage the event again this year in Youghal have been scrapped.
