Passengers Escape From Burning Bus

Passengers onboard a tour bus had a narrow escape after the vehicle went up in flames in Co Kerry earlier today.

The Paddy Wagon tour bus burst into flames while in the village of Castlemaine, outside Killarney, at around 11.30am.

Firefighters from Killorglin , Castleisland and Tralee responded to the blaze within minutes of receiv ing the call.

The bus was completely gutted in the fire, while a car parked alongside it also went up in flames.

Two houses nearby sustained extensive smoke damage.

A spokesperson for Paddy Wagon Tours said: “Everyone was evacuated according to our safety procedures, which all of our drivers are fully trained in.

“No passengers were injured and our driver was also unharmed in the incident.”

Witnesses have praised the bus driver for the manner in which he handled the situation.

The burnt-out bus and car have since been removed, and the area has reopened to traffic.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
