GUILTY OF MURDER

Another has been convicted of the murder of of father of seven, Thomas Dooley, who was viciously attacked whilst attending a burial at a graveyard in Tralee, Co Kerry in October 2022.

Michael Dooley (29) of the Halting site, Carrigrohane Road in Cork was today (Tuesday) found guilty of the murder of his cousin at New Rath Cemetery, Rathass in Tralee on October 5th, 2022. This followed a month long trial which took place at a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork. The jury took close to 17 hours to make their decision.

Prosecutors claimed that Thomas Dooley died in an �honour killing� after tension arose when one of the late Mr Dooley�s daughters ended her relationship with one of the accused men.

Ray Boland, senior counsel for Michael, said that his client went to the funeral to pay his respects to the deceased and had �no hand or part� in the crime.

It brings to five the number of people now convicted of murdering Mr Dooley.

Last Friday Patrick Dooley of Arbutus Grove in Killarney, who was a brother of the victim, was found guilty of the murder an act which Prosecuting barristers had called a �biblical atrocity.�

He had claimed that he saw men jump on his brother in the graveyard and had tried to help him to no avail. Patrick Dooley was found guilty of the murder following over twelve hours of jury deliberations at a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork.

Meanwhile, on Thursday of last week two men and a teenager were found guilty, by unanimous verdict, of the murder of Mr Dooley.

Father and son Thomas Dooley Snr (43) and Thomas Dooley Jnr (21) both of the Halting Site, Carrigrohane Road in Cork were found guilty of the murder after around eight hours of deliberations. The juvenile couldn�t be convicted because of his age. Mr Thomas Dooley Jnr was also found guilty of assault causing harm to Siobhan Dooley, the widow of the late Thomas Dooley.

The Jury will resume its deliberations on a sixth man tomorrow morning.
