A targeted flushing programme has commenced in a number of areas across Cork City in response to increased reports of discoloration in tap water.
A dedicated Uisce Eireann Taskforce continues to closely monitor instances of discoloration and monitoring has shown increased levels . Additional sampling has commenced and the utility company is working with the HSE.
People are being urged not to drink discoloured water. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes in some cases up to 20 minutes is recommended. Usually water will restore to a clear colour.
The water is safe to drink once running clear. If the issue remains unresolved customers should contact the company.
The customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
Flushing works will continue from tomorrow, Saturday 31st August in the following areas

Uisce ireann has thanked it’s customers for their patience and as crews continue to work to reduce instances of discolouration across Cork City it regrets any inconvenience caused.
