A man brandishing a firearm was arrested following an incident in Cork this afternoon.
Panicked members of the public called gardaí after witnessing the man remove the gun from a bag at The Lough, on the south side of the city.
Officers responded immediately and wrestled the suspect to the ground.
The man, who was described as homeless and vulnerable, told detectives he had the airsoft weapon for shooting at birds.
He was subsequently arrested and taken in for questioning.
