I am a local boat owner. I am not a millionaire. Far from it, I work hard shifts working in the Ambulance Service. And after work I spend my time on my boat.
Given all that, its devastating to report that on Saturday night some scumbags broke into my boat in Youghal. In an orgy of senseless destruction they caused thousands of euros of damage. Their mindless vandalism ruined the improvements I worked hard to made over the last year, slaving every weekend to get my boat in shape. It will take me many months to save for the repairs I now need to make.

What makes this even more upsetting, if that were possible, is that I continue to work so hard for this community, but also in trying to promote our beautiful town. This kind of vandalism should not be tolerated. The reputation of our town should not be dragged down by the actions of these scumbags. This could easily have happened to a visiting boat and our shame broadcast widely.
I am quite certain that some people know who’s involved. They need to be stopped, Mine is not the first boat vandalised; let it be the last. As a community and with the work of our representatives we need to protect the beautiful amenities that we have and which we have fought so hard to get. Let’s not allow scumbags to be make the lasting mark on our memories
