It’s the newest lean machine in the Garda Roads Policing Fleet.
The Volkswagen Golf 2.0litre, 295 bhp, 4wd car was seized during an operation along with large quantities illegal drugs and cash .
Gardaí decided to put the car to much better use and have spruced it up to help support their network in educating car enthusiasts nationwide about road safety.
For all that are fortunate to have a car, it can bring great freedom being able to get from A to B, but for plenty others their appreciation goes further.
There’s a large social network in Ireland, in particular young drivers, that are collectively mad about the inner workings and all the features and modifications that a car can have.
To keep people safe, there are regulations around these adjustments and what can and cannot be done to a car beyond its factory specifications.
Operation Nexus, is about you telling Gardai what modifications you wish to see the car feature within legal limits. Gardaí want your feedback!
Once fully modified, they will be travelling the country to show them off but more importantly, to educate about the legal considerations and the importance of regulations.
Sure what better place to get Operation Nexus underway than at this weekend’s Donegal International Rally –
