Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic incident that occurred on the R582 at Gurteenroe, Macroom, Co. Cork, shortly after 2am on Sunday, 10th August 2025.
The incident involved a car and a pedestrian. A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The occupants of the car were unharmed.
The scene was examined by forensic investigators, and the road has since reopened.
Gardaí are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information, to come forward. In particular, road users with dash-cam or camera footage from the Millstreet Road area between 1am and 2.15am on Sunday are urged to contact investigators.
