Man Undergoes Surgery After Serious Accident at Ringaskiddy Port
Emergency services have responded to a serious incident at Ringaskiddy Port in Cork this evening, where a man lost a limb in a workplace accident.
Medics arrived at the scene following reports that the man, believed to be in his 50s, had lost an arm while working at the port.
Despite significant blood loss, the man was conscious when emergency personnel arrived.
Paramedics worked quickly to stabilise him before transferring him to Cork University Hospital, where he is currently undergoing emergency surgery.
Naval divers are searching for the severed arm which fell into the water following the accident.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
