When poor Sprocket arrived in to CSPCA, he was in a horrific state with a fresh wound to the back of the head. Estimated to be a hunting hound cross with a beautiful wire-haired coat, the county dog warden brought him in after he was found straying, injured and soaked to the skin.
Sadly he had no chip, and the state he was in suggested his start in this life was not the best, to say the least.

Hopefully Sprocket’s life is about to take a turn for the better, and there is someone out there willing to give him the lovely forever home he deserves and needs. He is estimated to be between two and three years old, so he’s only a young chap and has plenty of years ahead of him.
So what do potential owners need to know about Sprocket? Firstly he is a very tall dog, and the people at CSPCA have found him to be friendly, playful and boisterous, Which probably means that he would be best suited to a home without small children or elderly residents.

Sprocket will need a secure garden, as hunting hounds’ instincts to chase prey can lead them to wander. These hound are generally independent, affectionate and intelligent, with high stamina and energy. Bred for endurance, they can maintain a steady pace for hours, often in rough terrain. Despite their work-focused nature in the field, many, are docile and lazy in the home.
