Some dogs have a very sad start to life but are still willing to open their hearts to humans.
Take lovely Wilbur, an American Bulldog cross dog who arrived to the Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals via Cork City Council Dog Warden Services.
As you can see, his poor ears had been painfully cropped by a previous owner, which is totally illegal but unfortunately still goes on. The ears make him look tough, but poor Wilbur is dote who just wants to be loved.

It is estimated that Wilbur is aged between two and four, and he is neutered and microchipped. As he hasn’t had a great start in life, the animal welfare charity wants to make sure his next home is the wonderful forever home that he deserves.
American Bulldogs are devoted family members, and need consistent and affectionate training. While Wilbur looks tough, he is a polite dog, described by the staff of C.S.P.C.A as friendly, confident, playful and boisterous. He will need a home where he will have a comfy bed indoors, as this fella isn’t made for the great outdoors.

American Bulldogs are a restricted breed, so any potential adopter must be a responsible dog owner who is aware of restricted breed requirements and has a fully enclosed garden. If you already have other dogs, a dog meet is required first to make sure they get on, and there is no information on how Wilbur gets on with cats.
If you are interested in adopting Wilbur, please fill out C.S.P.C.A’s dog adoption form here, and they will get back to you.
