The motorist was stopped at a checkpoint on the Cork Road Midelton and Gardai soon discovered the driver was on a learner permit had no L plates and was unaccompanied.
He then went on to fail a roadside drugs test and his car was seized.
Garda� wish to remind people that they operate checkpoints 7 days a week and will be stepping up their road safety campaigns between now and Christmas
