Cork City FC Donates €10,000 to UNICEF for Gaza Aid Efforts
Cork City FC has donated €10,000 to UNICEF to support the organisation’s humanitarian work in Gaza. The funds were raised through the sale of international scarves, launched as part of the club’s inaugural International Day in September 2024, with the club contributing additional funds to round out the total.
The initiative culminated during the second International Day, held yesterday evening at Turner’s Cross during the club’s match against Shamrock Rovers, where supporters proudly wore their national colours in a show of solidarity and community spirit.
This donation is part of Cork City FC’s broader commitment to charitable causes, both locally and globally. The club maintains a close partnership with The Crann Centre, which supports individuals with neuro-physical disabilities, and has recently offered free advertising slots to local charities on its new billboards.
Club owner Dermot Usher expressed gratitude to fans, saying:
“I’d like to thank all our fans for their continued support throughout the season and in helping us provide this donation through the sale of our international scarves. Your generosity and buy-in helps Cork City FC to go beyond being just a football club and extends to helping people and children that are most in need.”
Cork City FC continues to exemplify how sport can be a powerful force for good — both on and off the pitch.
