Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision involving an e-scooter and a car which occurred on the Tullaroan Road at Bonnettstown Kilkenny shortly before 6:30pm last evening.
A 14 year old who was travelling on his e-scooter at the time of the accident was transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny where later died from his injuries.
The local coroner has been notified and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination in due course.
There were no other injuries reported.
The road was closed overnight to facilitate a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, which took place this morning. The road has since reopened to traffic.
Garda� are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Tullaroan Road between 6:00pm and 6:30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda�.
