Traffic Wardens across Limerick could soon be armed with Body Worn Cameras in a bid to protect them from dangerous situations.
Members of the public are now being invited to participate in a consultation regarding the proposed scheme.
The initiative is set to be piloted over a six-month period and aims to enhance the security and safety of Traffic Wardens while on duty.
.
The cameras will not be live monitoring. They will remain turned off unless a Traffic Warden perceives a threat or anticipates an incident, at which point they will switch on the camera to record audio video and GPS data.
