Met �ireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Cork that is in effect from 5 p.m. today Saturday 23rd November until 2 a.m on Sunday morning 24 November
As a result of expected high winds, the public is advised of potential hazards such as downed trees and debris on road, footpaths and cycle lanes
Road users and cyclists are advised to take extra care when travelling. Motorists are asked to slow down, drive with extra care and attention and endure you protect vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians.
The Mogeely Water Treatment Plant, which supplies drinking water to the communities of Mogeely, Castlemartyr and Ladysbridge, has been impacted due to poor raw water quality from storm flooding. The turbidity of the incoming water for treatment remains high.
For this reason, the treatment plant has shutdown. Reservoirs in the area are now depleted meaning customers in these areas are being impacted by an unplanned interruption to the water supply. Uisce �ireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers.
ESB Networks is highlighting the dangers posed by fallen live wires and is advising the public to stay away from fallen cables and to report such cases immediately to 1800 372 999.
Issues such as flooding and road damage can be reported over the course of the weekend to Cork County Council�s Emergency Out of Hours number (021) 4800048.
In the event of an emergency call 999 or 112 and request the Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Garda� or Irish Coastguard as appropriate. DO NOT assume others will do this.
