Man Dies Following Collision at Vernon Mount Motocross Track in Cork

A man has died following a tragic incident at the Vernon Mount motocross track in Cork earlier today.

It is understood that the man, believed to be in his 40s, was participating in a motocross event when the motorbike he was riding crashed.

Emergency medical personnel on site immediately administered CPR. Paramedics from the National Ambulance Services as well as crews from Cork City Fire Brigade arrived shortly afterwards and took over the care of the critically injured man. Despite the best efforts of all involved, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out at Cork University Hospital. The coroner has been notified, and several investigations into the incident are now underway.

Gardai are also investigating the death of a motorcyclist in his 70s who was killed when his bike was in collision with a van in Cahir Co Tipperary just after 11 am this Morning.

The incident follows the death of a man in his 40s who died after he was hit by a car in Mitchelstown Co Cork around 9.15 last night.

The man had been walking between junctions 11 and 12 northbound on the M8 at the time of the incident.
