Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with an aggravated burglary that occurred in the early hours of this morning Monday, at a house in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City.
At approximately 12:40am, three men, armed with implements, believed to be baseball bats entered the home and confronted the occupants before fleeing the scene.
Gardaí on patrol in the area responded swiftly, arresting one man in his 30s at the scene.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Co. Cork.
One of the occupants, a man also in his 30s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
A technical examination of the scene has been completed.
Gardaí are appealing to the public for any information that may assist the investigation. In particular, they are seeking any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Lagan Grove area between 12:00am and 1:00am on the night in question.
