Illegal dumping is a scourge on the landscape and these photographs give an idea of how bad the situation is.
These piles of illegally dumped rubbish found close to Apple Headquarters in Cork as well as Nashs Boreen Cork show that some have absolutely no respect for the community and the environment.
Theres an onus on everyone to get rid of waste in the correct manner say Cork City Council.
Where the Council finds material that is illegally dumped and identifies the owner of the waste regardless of whether they were caught in the act will be fined.
Cork North Central General Election candidate Cllr Ken O Flynn says hes outraged with what is going on that it has to stop and offender’s need to be dealt with.
In statement Cllr O’ Flynn says a passionate advocate for our community and our environment recent alarming reports and photographs of illegal dumping at Apple and Nash’s Boreen have underscored a pressing and unacceptable issue that our community can no longer ignore.
The degradation of our neighborhood and the environment is a direct affront to the values we hold dear as citizens of our city.
It is abundantly clear who the perpetrators of this illegal activity are, yet there seems to be a persistent silence that allows them to operate with impunity.
As a community, we expect better from our local authorities who have a tremendous responsibility not only to protect our environment but to act decisively against those who choose to break our laws.
I call upon my fellow citizens to report instances of illegal dumping and to hold our local council accountable for upholding the law. Together, we can make a difference.
