A man in his 20s has been arrested in relation to a number of incidents in Cork last Friday.
Earlier today Gardai carried out a raid on a house on the Northside of the city and arrested a man for questioning following an attack on a house in Shankiel as well as an incident where a man was knocked down .
On Friday two men on a motorbike and armed with a firearm called to the home of a convicted criminal and smashed a number of windows.
Shortly afterwards they knocked down a man on Churchfield Road leaving the elderly man seriously injured on the side of the road .
The man who’s in his 60s remains in hospital having sustained multiple injuries.
The culprits who dumped the motorbike after the man was knocked down ran from the scene leaving the firearm behind them.
Gardai are believed to have gathered a considerable amount of forensic evidence which enabled them to make an arrest today.
The man who is known to officers is currently being quizzed at a Garda Station in the city.
The second suspect remains at large
