Children Withdrawn From Cork School

2 Min Read

Around 100 children attending a Cork primary school were withdrawn from their classrooms earlier this morning after parents raised concerns about a number of health and safety issues at the school.

A group of parents arrived at Gaelscoil Pheig Sayers shortly after 11am and informed management that they were taking their children out of the school.

It is understood that these concerns had been raised previously, but parents felt they were not being listened to and were left with no choice but to remove their children in an effort to highlight their fears.

In a statement to All About Cork, the parents said:

“We have taken the decision to withdraw our children from the school due to ongoing concerns regarding health and safety, as well as other unresolved issues that we believe impact their wellbeing.

Despite raising these matters over time, we did not feel that adequate steps were taken to address them.

Our priority is to ensure our children learn in an environment where their safety, welfare, and educational needs are fully supported.”

Signed,
The parents of Gaelscoil Pheig Sayers.

The school has been contacted for comment and it remains unclear if the pupils will return to school on Monday.
