Gardaí are investigating the theft of an ATM following a brazen raid on a bank in Cork in the early hours of this morning.
The gang used an industrial machine to smash their way into the Bank of Ireland branch in Little Island before making off with the ATM.
It is believed there may have been more than €70,000 in the cash machine at the time of the robbery.
Sources say this was a well-executed operation carried out by organised and serious criminals.
The raid follows a similar incident at Danos SuperValu in Mallow, Co Cork, last week.
Security sources say they are examining CCTV footage in a bid to identify the gang members, whom they believe are not local and may be planning another robbery in the near future.
