Fire And Safety Review At Marymount

All About Cork has learned that measures to improve and strengthen fire safety procedures at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice are underway following a fire at the Cork facility.

An audit of the campus uncovered a number of “unexpected results”, which will require remedial action to ensure compliance with the highest standards of fire safety.

A fire in a room last December prompted senior officials to carry out a detailed inspection, during which a number of areas of concern were identified.

The safety of patients, residents and staff is a matter of the highest concern for the Board of Directors and Management of Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.”

The spokesperson also said the public can be reassured that the delivery of services is continuing as planned both at the Curraheen campus as well as those at home.

Founded in 1870 on Wellington Road in Cork, Marymount provides specialist palliative care services. The organisation relocated to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in Curraheen in 2011.
