Ballincollig Cork has been voted Irelands Tidiest Town.
Volunteers with Ballincollig Tidy Towns Committee received the good news at an award ceremony in Dublin today.
The group of unsung heroes are over the moon with the win having beaten off 904 other towns to take top spot.
Members many of whom are with the group since it was first established some 40 years ago said they are extremely proud of their achievement and look forward to ensuring Ballincollig continues to shine brightly.
The army of volunteers picked up a prize pot of 15,000 Euro courtesy of SuperValu sponsors of the competition.
Elsewhere in Cork there were celebrations in Ballyphehane as it walked away with the Young Person�s Award which is aimed at the 16 to 24 age group who are actively involved in projects and initiatives of their local Tidy owns group throughout the year.
