A cyclist has died after being knocked down in Cork this evening.
The woman died after the bike she was cycling collided with a truck on Albert Road close to the city centre around 6.30 pm.
Emergency services including ambulance personell firefighters and Gardai responded to the incident and despite best efforts by paramedics the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A full-scale investigation is underway
The woman”s death comes just hours after a man in his 40s was killed when he was struck by a dumper truck on Church Road Ballycotton East Cork.
The Health and Safety Authority as well as Gardai are carrying out separate investigations.
