A Taxi driver is recovering after being assaulted in the early hours of yesterday morning in Cork.
The cab owner was attacked after refusing to take a man to a certain part of the city at around 3.30am Saturday morning.
The victim was punched in the face and sustained serious injuries.
Gardai say the man who is in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.
A source close to the injured man said Taxi drivers are sitting targets no matter what time of the day or night and tougher penalties have to be imposed on those convicted of assaulting Taxi operators.
