A beloved playground in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, has been destroyed in a fire that is thought to have been started deliberately.
The amenity, a favourite spot for local families and children, was left badly damaged after flames tore through the site on Sunday evening. The community-funded project had been a cherished space by those in the community.
Locals have expressed their shock and anger at the incident. One resident described the culprits as “mindless scumbags,” adding that the act was “a disgusting attack on something meant for children and the whole community.”
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to identify those responsible.
