Did you know Cork might actually be Ireland’s oldest city? Yes, recent archaeological discoveries are starting to question Waterford’s long-held title. So maybe it’s time Cork claimed the crown?

Whether you’re brand new to the city or have spent your life here, most of us would struggle to point out where the original city gates once stood or where the old Poor House was. And believe it or not, strolling down the South Mall  as we do today, would once have required a boat ride!

Cork is built on layers of history, some of it inspiring, some of it pretty grim, and some of it unbelievable! And then there’s plenty that feels oddly familiar, proving not much really changes. From medieval walls to hidden waterways, this city is packed with stories just waiting to be uncovered.
