Breaking News One of Corks most famous chippers is to close its doors after almost 75 years in business.
In a letter to staff members Frances and Brian Lennox said they regretted to announce that Jackie Lennox’s Take Away on Bandon Cork Road Cork will cease trading this coming Sunday.
The news will come as a major shock to people across Cork as the chipper was renowned for its food.
The letter also states the decision to close was not an easy one to make.
Brian and his sister Frances who have worked in the family run business from a very young age said they would like to thank their staff and loyal customers who have supported the business down through the years.
An emotional Brian said ” He hopes he and his family have made a contribution to the culture of Cork”.
Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Dan Boyle said he was shocked to hear the news. The chipper he said was like an institution and will be sadly missed. Corks first citizen said he would also like to wish Brian and Frances Lennox all the best from here on in.
