Rarely a day goes by without a mention of the lack of Gardai on our streets as well as Garda Recruitment.
A number of people who applied to become a member of the force have contacted PaulByrneMedia.ie to vent their frustration at how long its taking to get a response from Garda HR.
One applicant said ” life is on hold not knowing “
Another who longs to protect our society said ” the State is crying out for people to join but we are getting nowhere having applied “
When the applicants contact Garda HR in relation to the progress of their applications the only answer they get back is suitability checks outstanding and that’s that.
The Garda Press Office has issued the following statement.
The recruitment process for entry into An Garda Sochna is rigorous and involves several stages, including exams, interviews, fitness tests, medical examinations, and thorough security vetting.
The security vetting process will take additional time, particularly if a candidate has spent time abroad, as this will require coordination with international authorities which is outside of the control of An Garda Sochna.
Formal offers for a place as a Garda Trainee can only be made on successful completion of all stages of the application process.

Applicants will just have to sit tight before they maybe able walk the beat.
