For the fourth consecutive year, Cork City Council, in collaboration with Lets Play Cork, have secured support for a vibrant National Play Day. Children and families are invited to enjoy a series of Play events at Corks Play Olympics at Bells Field this Saturday July 20th.
The morning Teddy Bears Brunch beginning at 12 noon, will cater for children up to the age of 10. This event will feature free play opportunities with the Lets Play Cork Play packs, games, music, face painting. Cork Healthy Cities and The Metropole Hotel are coming together to provide free healthy snacks for all to enjoy.
Later at 1pm, the Play Olympics will commence, transforming the iconic Bells field into playful arena for older children, teens and adults alike. Teams can take part in fun challenges like the post modern pentathlon, cross country skiing and the northsides first summer snow ball fight! An opening and closing ceremony will involve music and dance and plenty of playful mayhem. Community Play Leaders will help Lets Play Cork to oversee each game.
In Lets play Cork, we design play events for all ages, from 0-99 and we really hope this National Play Day inspires everyone to experience a playful day with us in the glorious arena that is Bells Field. This year, the VQ are playing their part by lending us the Metropoles Head Chef to cater our Teddy Bears picnic! We are inviting caregivers, toddlers, teenagers, grandparents and everyone in between to let their hair down and embrace our Play Olympic spirit for the special day.
