Lookout for the newest recruits at cork City Fire Brigade who are out this morning pushing and pulling a vintage fire truck through the streets of Cork today Friday.

While its sure be a tough job its nothing in comparison to what some of the sick children who attend Mercy University Hospital have to endure .

The recruits say they have been blown away by the strength & courage shown by the Mercy Heroes who no matter how sick manage to battle their way through their illness.

Speaking on behalf of Cork City Fire Brigades probationary firefighters, Peter Spillett said: The journey we will make on Friday will be easy in comparison to the journey that so many teenagers and young adults face as patients at The Mercy as they endure serious illnesses like cancer.

Our symbolic journey is a tribute to the resilience of these young patients facing the toughest battles of their lives, and we are proud to support Mercy Heroes and highlight the cause and raise funds.
