In a strongly worded statement he said “There are serious questions to be answered here about the governments failure to oversee progress in Cork. I think UCC must now identify when building will start and when it will be completed. I know that the demand for university places is increasing and we need to see increased capacity because for many young people, because of this governments housing crisis, leaving home to go to college in Galway or Dublin is simply no longer an option. I do not understand how it can take 5 years to start construction”

When in the planning stages UCC said the building would be at the centre of the colleges commitment to delivering a world class experience to its students, faculty, and business.
