One of Cork’s most iconic and historic pubs, Clancy’s, is set to enter an exciting new era as it temporarily closes its doors this week for a transformative refurbishment.
Located in the heart of Princes Street, Clancy’s is undergoing a major revamp backed by a €500,000 investment and a landmark partnership with Diageo. The pub will reopen on Friday, July 11th, unveiling a bold reimagining of the 200-year-old venue that blends tradition with innovation.
Owner Paul Montgomery and his team are reinventing Clancy’s as a flagship city gastropub—celebrating local ingredients, modern Irish cuisine, and, of course, world-class Guinness.
The new Clancy’s will feature four unique experiences under one roof:
Arthur’s Bar @ Clancy’s – An immersive Guinness bar experience celebrating the iconic stout.
1824 @ Clancy’s – A first-floor restaurant named for the pub’s founding year, serving contemporary Irish fare with local flair.
The Cocktail Lab – A premium mixology bar offering a curated, elevated cocktail experience.
Sky Bar – A vibrant rooftop venue perfect for parties, social gatherings, and sunny afternoons.
Montgomery said the vision is to create “a dynamic, layered experience that honours Clancy’s rich past while firmly placing it at the cutting edge of Cork’s modern hospitality scene.”
Whether you’re a longtime regular or a first-time visitor, Clancy’s new chapter promises to raise the bar—literally and figuratively.
