Every day, hundreds of vulnerable children reach out to ISPCC Childline carrying burdens no child should ever have to bear.
Behind every call is a young voice searching for comfort, understanding, and hope in moments of fear, loneliness, and despair.
For many of these children, the volunteer who answers the phone is the first person they have ever trusted enough to share their pain with.
Some callers are struggling with overwhelming anxiety, abuse, isolation, or thoughts of suicide.
In their darkest moments, a compassionate voice on the other end of the line can make all the difference.
Childline volunteers provide far more than conversation — they offer safety, reassurance, and the powerful reminder that no child has to face their struggles alone.
Their kindness and patience help children feel heard, valued, and supported when they need it most.
But the need for volunteers continues to grow. Every child deserves the chance to speak to someone who will listen without judgement and help them feel safe and understood.
Cork Childline is now calling on compassionate people from the community to step forward and become volunteers. New training courses are being organised for those who want to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of children.
By volunteering, you could become the person who gives a frightened child hope, comfort, and the courage to keep going.
Anyone interested in becoming a Childline volunteer can contact Regina on 087 986 0347 for more information about upcoming training courses.
