Rarely a day goes by when we don�t hear about dogs being rescued at times from horrendous conditions.
The courts have of late come down heavily on people who mistreat animals and hopefully it�s sending out a message that animal welfare is being taken seriously.
This Sunday the annual Global Great Greyhound Walk will take place and Doneraille Park North Cork is the venue for the Cork leg of this gathering of canines.
All breeds of dogs and their owners are welcome to take part in the walk beginning at 12.30 in the afternoon.
The fun event aims to highlight animal cruelty will not be tolerated and show that a dog in the right surroundings can make wonderful a pet .
Last year almost 12.000 dogs were walked in the worldwide event.
Entry fee on the day is � 5 and your pooch must be on a lead
