Olympian Rob Heffernan and his wife Marian are celebrating after Cork City AC, the athletics club they set up three years ago was awarded the Cork International Hotel monthly Community Spirt Award.
The husband and wife who are known for nurturing champions on and off the track established the club to bridge a gap for local children.
Cork City AC, founded in 2022 by Olympian Rob Heffernan and his wife Marian, has swiftly become a beacon of community spirit and youth development.
The club, created to address a gap in children’s athletics in Cork City, now boasts nearly 200 members and has earned the Cork International Hotel Community Spirit Award.
More than just a sports club, Cork City AC emphasizes holistic development—prioritizing physical and mental well-being, team morale, and personal growth alongside athletic performance.
Its rapid growth is a testament to the Heffernans belief that athletics forms the foundation for all sports and can inspire children of all abilities. As General Manager Eoghan Murphy aptly noted, the club embodies the best of Cork’s values—passion, resilience, and community.
