The Sun Always Shines in Cork – Just Ask Sean Histon and His Giant Sunflower 🌻

Sean Histon had a sunny outlook when he declared, “The sun always shines in Cork”—and with good reason. Standing proudly in his garden in Ballinderry Park, Mayfield, the pensioner posed next to a towering sunflower that has captured the attention of his neighbors and brought joy to all who pass by.

Planted in June, the sunflower has grown to an astonishing 11 feet 8 inches, making it the tallest Sean has ever cultivated. While he’s no stranger to growing sunflowers, he admits nothing compares to this latest floral marvel.

In a touching tribute, Sean has named the sunflower Kate, after his granddaughter, saying she is “a ray of sunshine” in his life.
