The blaze was tackled from both land and sea and took several hours to bring under control.

The professionalism and tireless work of those involved in tackling the blaze prevented the flames from spreading to nearby homes and saved people from being seriously injured or worse.

The boys suspected of starting the fire will be spoken to by a Juvenile Liaison Officer, and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration.

Locals in Crosshaven have paid tribute to everyone involved in extinguishing the fire.
