A woman in her 40s remains in Garda custody this morning following two incidents in Ballincollig, Co. Cork last night, including one in which a young woman was held at knifepoint.
Shortly after 10pm, members of the Armed Response Unit responded to reports that a woman in a red dress was pointing a gun at staff at a fuel station in the town.
A short time later, officers attended a a second incident nearby where a young woman was held at knifepoint and had a sum of cash taken from her.
The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards. Gardaí recovered a bread knife and an imitation firearm.
She is currently being questioned at Togher Garda Station.
No injuries were reported.
