This weekend, the Cork Mind Body Experience takes over City Hall, with over 400 exhibitors, 100 free talks and workshops, and everything from readings and healings to yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. Among those taking part is psychic medium, teacher, healer, and psychotherapist Martina Mee, who will be joined by her mum, Veronica Tuckwood, also a healer.

Martina’s journey began back in 2011, after the death of her stepdad.
“My stepdad passed away from cancer and my mum wanted to learn about angels. I started to notice that I was seeing things and getting thoughts. I then joined a psychic circle and was asked to bring through a link for someone who had passed away. I remember thinking this was crazy. What was even more crazy was I was able to do it. I kept asking myself how this was possible and why me?”

Despite her initial doubts, Martina soon realised her gift was making a difference.
“I found I was able to bring comfort and support to people who were feeling lost. It wasn’t about money, it was a calling, some call it a vocation.”

That calling pushed her to deepen her training.
“I went on to train in counselling and psychotherapy in 2020. Here, I learned about myself, and it reinforced my love for helping others. I continue to use my gifts to help and support others on their journey to empowering themselves.”

One of the most rewarding parts of her work has been sharing it with her mum.
“I then trained my mum in Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy, and now we are both on the journey to helping others in their daily struggles. I am blessed to work with my mum. Not many get to do this and the work that we do is incredibly rewarding.”

And at 78 years of age, Veronica is proof that it’s never too late to try something new.
“Mum, like me, is passionate about helping people, and at the age of 78 years of age it shows that we are never too late to start new things.”

Martina says she isn’t one for self-praise, but instead measures her work by how her clients feel after meeting her.
“All I can do is quote people’s responses to how they feel when they engage with me. These being compassionate, empathic, they come away feeling relieved, like I truly understand them and never feel judged by me. These are experiences everyone who comes to our services will experience. It’s never about me—each client is a priority.”

That philosophy runs through both her holistic work and her counselling practice.
“This has been across the board in my holistic profession and as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My love for helping others will never stop and every day I find new ways to meeting clients where they are at.”

Alongside her work at auroracentreofwellbeing.com, Martina is preparing to launch a new counselling website.

“My new counselling website will be offering counselling sessions for adults and children. I believe children need help to navigate their feelings in a way that they can be accepted for who they are.”

Martina and Veronica will both be at the Cork Mind Body Experience at City Hall this Saturday and Sunday, open from 11am to 7pm. With hundreds of exhibitors, free workshops, and a community dedicated to mind, body, and soul, it’s the perfect chance to connect, recharge, and discover new paths to wellbeing.
